Debrief Went very well, lots of laughs.

[ Introduction: leader picks child to knock on bin, everyone calls 'come out Stinky!', Stinky comes out singing his intro tune ]

STINKY: Hello little monkeys! Hello Miss Pat!

LEADER: Hello Stinky! Oh, you're smelling especially pongy today!

STINKY: Oh, yes, I'm making my own perfume, look! I have a big picture for the children. [Shows bottle]

[ Slide: Perfume photo ]

LEADER: What is it called?

STINKY: Stink.e. You say it with a French accent.

LEADER: Oh, that's a fancy name...

STINKY: Yes, it's very fancy. I'm going to sell it in all the shops. Try it!

LEADER: Uhmm... I'm not sure it's my style.

STINKY: Yes, you try it!

LEADER: OK, ok... Ugh! [gags]

STINKY: What do you think?

LEADER: Well... it reminds me of you, Stinky!

STINKY: Yes! I knew you'd like it!

LEADER: How much will your perfume cost?

STINKY: Uhm, it's very special, so... one hundred dollars! No, wait... one thousand dollars! No, wait wait... one hundred thousand dollars!!

LEADER: Stinky, that's so expensive! Someone would have to work months and months for that!

STINKY: Yes, it's only for very special people, doing very special things! They will smell very special, just like me!

LEADER: Hmmm... yes...

STINKY: Oh wait. Hey Miss Pat, I have a question. What did Jesus smell like?

LEADER: That's a strange question. The Bible doesn't tell us, but I think he would have smelt pretty normal, because he was a real human being.

STINKY: Did he use perfume?

LEADER: Well, the grown ups learnt about that last week. Just before he was killed, a woman poured a very expensive perfume on Jesus.

STINKY: How expensive was it?

LEADER: The bible says more than one year's worth of working!

STINKY: Could Jesus pay that much?

LEADER: Oh, the perfume was a gift, because she was so thankful for Jesus. She saw that he was a very special person -- God's Messiah! - doing a very special job.

STINKY: What special job?

LEADER: Being the Passover lamb.

STINKY: Ha! That's funny. You don't put lamb on a pavlova cake!

LEADER: No Stinky, it's not pavlova. It's the Passover.

STINKY: Oh. What kind of cake is a passover?

LEADER: No, it's not a cake. It was more like a very special BBQ.

STINKY: Oh, they smell nice!

LEADER: The passover was a special meal the Jews would eat once a year. It was like a lesson they would act out. They would eat lamb and put its blood on the door.

STINKY: Oh. Why did they do that?

LEADER: It reminded them that God saved them when they were in Egypt. The blood on the door would protect them from death and judgement. God wanted to help them understand what Jesus would do for us.

STINKY: Oh, is that the special job?

LEADER: Yes. Let's read from the Bible:

[ Slide: While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many," he said to them. Mark 14:22-24 ]

LEADER: Now it is Jesus' blood on the cross that protects us from death and judgement. Jesus said the woman was preparing him for this special job. The woman poured perfume on Jesus, and Jesus would soon pay for her sins with his own precious blood, that was poured on the cross.

STINKY: I hope everyone was very thankful for Jesus, just like the woman!

LEADER: Sadly, no. Judas, one of Jesus' 12 disciples, betrayed him for just a few silver coins. He didn't see and accept what Jesus was doing for us. He wasn't thankful.

STINKY: Oh, that sounds really sad ... and silly ... and wrong.

LEADER: Yes. God wants us to be like the woman and see how precious Jesus is. More precious than money -

STINKY: -- and perfume!

LEADER: Yes Stinky. Let's see our Bible Bite:

[ Slide: Bible Bite: The precious blood of Jesus protects us from death and judgement, so be thankful! ]

LEADER: Stinky, can you say it?

STINKY: Eh... Stinky's perfume protects you from making friends. Is that right?

LEADER: Stinky, let's read it again.

[ Read together ]

STINKY: Oh, I better go now. Thank you for teaching me Ms Pat. Bye bye little monkeys!
