Key Points Love and faithfulness are the Bible's summary of God's character and glory (Exodus 34:6). And creation was made for the glory of God -- that is, to display and testify that its maker is not selfish or capricious but loving and faithful, merciful and just, gracious and true. But more than that, the world was not made simply to testify to these things in God. The world was also made to work by them. That's why lovelessness and faithlessness are such destructive forces in the world, because they stand at the heart of sin. Every aspect of our lives ought to be an expression of first receiving, then reflecting and returning, God's love and faithfulness. The entire creation becomes an illustration of the glorious character of God, as we see again and again that love and faithfulness build and give life, while lovelessness and faithlessness destroy and kill.

[ Introduction: leader picks child to knock on bin, everyone calls 'come out Stinky!', Stinky comes out singing his intro tune ]

STINKY: Hello little monkeys!

LEADER: Hello Stinky! How are you?

STINKY: Oh, I'm excited -- I'm going on holidays!

LEADER: That's good. Are you all packed yet?

STINKY: Nearly... I've got my clothes in my suitcase, and my book in my back pack, but I'm worried I might lose things. Where should I keep the most important things, so I always have them?

LEADER: Oh, I've got something for you. It's a travel pouch [hold up to audience, then put around Stinky]. You put your most important things there, then hang it around your neck, and you take it wherever you go.

STINKY: Oh, thank you! I'll put my best things here and always keep it close.

LEADER: That's it Stinky.

STINKY: Hey Mr Dave, I have a question. Life feels like a long trip sometimes. What are the important things we should always carry with us?

LEADER: Oh, there's a proverb about that! Let's see...

[ Slide (verse): Let love and loyalty [always show like a necklace, and write them in your mind. (Proverbs 3:3, CEV)] ]

LEADER: See? We should always carry love and loyalty. We know what love is. Do you know what loyalty is?

STINKY: Yeah... it's the tea that the queen drinks. She says 'Hey! Bring me my royal tea now!'.

LEADER: No Stinky, you're thinking 'royal tea', not loyalty. Kids, can you help Stinky? What does loyalty mean?

[ Get responses ]

LEADER: Yes, loyalty means being faithful, keeping your promises, being true to your word, so people can trust you.

STINKY: Where do we get the love and the loyalty from?

LEADER: From God! Love and loyalty are a great summary of what God is like and why He is so good. He is very kind, so you know He is doing good for you. And He always keeps his Word, so you know you can trust Him. God is not selfish and tricky; He is loving and loyal, merciful and just, gracious and true.

STINKY: But why are love and loyalty so important that we should always remember them?

LEADER: Well, because this is God's world, it was created to work by love and loyalty. When we're selfish and faithless, the world becomes an ugly and hurtful place.

STINKY: Oh no. What does it look like when we do remember God's love and loyalty?

LEADER: We become loving and loyal. We become wise, and we live God's way. We show how good God is. Kids, can you think of someone in the Bible who always remembered God's love and loyalty?

[ Get responses: Jesus ]

LEADER: Yes, Jesus always knew God loved him and would stay loyal to him, even when everyone was hating and betraying Jesus.

STINKY: OK, so always remember love and loyalty. Got it!
