[ Introduction: leader picks child to knock on bin, everyone calls 'come out Stinky!', Stinky comes out singing his intro tune ]

STINKY: Hello Mr Michael!

LEADER: Hi Stinky!

STINKY: Hey Mr Michael... I've got a special gift for everyone...

LEADER: What is it?

STINKY: It is ... a BIG bag of lollies! I thought the little monkeys would enjoy them after church.

LEADER: Wow, that's great Stinky, thank you! [reaches for bag]

STINKY: Ah ah ah! Not so quick... [pulls bag back]

LEADER: Why?

STINKY: Well, before I give you the lollies, I want you to do something ...

LEADER: Oh, OK. What is it?

STINKY: Eh... I want you and the little monkeys to clap five times.

LEADER: So if we all clap five times on the spot, you'll give us the lollies?

STINKY: Eh... Yes. [emphatic]

LEADER: OK kids, let's clap together with me. [guide kids, count for them]\ That was great! OK Stinky, will you give us the lollies now?

STINKY: Eh... I changed my mind.

LEADER: But you said!

STINKY: Well, I had my fingers crossed! Now I want Mr Michael to do five hops on the spot. I promise I'll give you the lollies.

LEADER: Oh Stinky! All right, here I go... [does them, then panting] OK Stinky, where are the lollies...

LEADER: Eh... I changed my mind. I had my legs crossed that time! Now I want you to do five star jumps... I really promise this time.

LEADER: Stinky! You promised! Oh, all right... [does it]. OK, Stinky, give me the lollies...

STINKY: Eh... I changed my mind. Now I want you to do five push ups. I really really promise the biggest supa dupa promise I can promise ever in the whole world.

LEADER: All right Stinky, just this time... [does it]. OK, I really want the lollies this time...

STINKY: Eh... I changed my mind.

LEADER: Oh Stinky! I can't trust your promises when you keep changing your mind!

STINKY: Oh... I guess you're right, Mr Michael. I'm sorry! I should keep my promises. If you can't trust what I say, you can't really be my friend. [repentant]

LEADER: That's right.

STINKY: Hey Mr Michael, I have a question. Does God keep his promises or does He change His mind too? Can we trust Him?

LEADER: That's a great question Stinky! What do you think kids? [gets a couple of responses]. OK, well let's see what the Bible says. Where's Robbie the Robot?

[ Next slide. Robbie appears with passage: ]

[ God is no mere human! He doesn\'t tell lies or change his mind. God always keeps his promises. (Numbers 23:19) ]

[ Get child to read out loud. ]

LEADER: Stinky! This is great news. This bit of the Bible says that God always keeps his promises and doesn't change His mind, like most people. When He makes a promise, He keeps it.

STINKY: That's wonderful! That means we can really trust Him. Always!

LEADER: That's right! And Jesus wants us to just say 'yes' or 'no', and mean it, instead of trying to sound good by making big promises.

STINKY: So what's the Bible Bite for today?

LEADER: Let's see what Robbie brings out...

[ Next slide. Robbie brings: God always keeps his promises. He wants us to tell the truth. ]

[ Gets child to read it, then all together. ]

LEADER: Stinky, do you think you can say the Bible Bite?

STINKY: Oh... I'm not very good at these, I always get them muddled. Let me see... Mr Michael doesn't make promises, he's always doing push ups!

LEADER: Oh Stinky! I think we better say it all together one more time... [all together]

STINKY: Oh, I'm so glad that God keeps his promises -- that means we can trust Him! I want to stop making big promises without keeping them. I want to start telling the truth.

LEADER: Great! So, Stinky... Will you give us your lollies?

STINKY: Eh... Yes... [emphatic; hands over bag]

LEADER: Oh thank you Stinky!

STINKY: I better go now. Thank you for teaching me about God! Bye bye little monkeys!

LEADER: Bye Stinky! I'll put this lollies on the table after church. Let's have one lolly each so no one misses out. Please ask your parents if it's OK to have one.
