[ Introduction: leader picks child to knock on bin, everyone calls 'come out Stinky!', Stinky comes out singing his intro tune ]

STINKY: Hey guess what Mr Austin?

LEADER: What's that Stinky?

STINKY: I've got a BIG bag of lollies that I can share with you...

LEADER: Wow, that sounds good!

STINKY: Yep. You just have to do five push ups, and I'll give you the lollies.

LEADER: So you'll give me the lollies if I do five push ups? OK! Then I can share the lollies with the kids. [does them, then panting, goes to claim them...] OK Stinky, where are my lollies?

STINKY: Ehhrh... I changed my mind! You have to do 10 star jumps, and I'll give you the lollies. I promise!

LEADER: Oh Stinky! All right, here I go... [does them, then panting] OK Stinky, give me the lollies...

STINKY: Erhhh... I changed my mind! You have to run around my bin 3 times and then I'll give you the lollies. I promise!

LEADER: Stinky! You promised! Oh, all right... [does it]. OK, Stinky, I really want my lollies this time...

STINKY: Erhhh... I changed my mind!

LEADER: Oh Stinky! I can't trust your promises when you keep changing your mind!

STINKY: Oh, I know Mr Austin, I'm sorry! I should keep my promises. It's just that there are so many changes at this time of the new year!

LEADER: How do you mean?

STINKY: Well, my classroom at school will change. And my teacher will change. And the shows on TV change. Even my classmates -- sometimes they say they want to be my friend, and then they change their mind!

LEADER: Oh, I know what you mean Stinky.

STINKY: Hey Mr Austin, does God change His mind? Can we trust Him?

LEADER: That's a great question Stinky! What do you think kids? [gets a couple of responses]. OK, well let's see what the Bible says.

Numbers 23:19 (NIrV)

[ Slide: ]

[ God isn\'t a mere man. He can\'t lie. He isn\'t a human being. He doesn\'t change his mind. He speaks, and then he acts. He makes a promise, and then he keeps it. (Numbers 23:19) ]

[ Get child to read out loud. ]

LEADER: Stinky! This is great news. This bit of the Bible says that God doesn't change His mind, like most people. When He makes a promise, He keeps it.

STINKY: That's wonderful! That means we can really trust Him. Always!

LEADER: That's right! We know that no matter how many things change around us, God is always the same. He doesn't change His mind, but he always keeps his promises. We can trust him!

STINKY: So what's the Bible Bite for today?

LEADER: Let's see what Robbie brings out...

[ Next slide. Robbie brings: God doesn't change. He always keeps his promises. ]

[ Gets child to read it, then all together. ]

LEADER: Stinky, do you think you can say the Bible Bite?

STINKY: Oh... I'm not very good at these, I always get them muddled. Let me see... Mr Austin doesn't make promises, he's always doing push ups!

LEADER: Oh Stinky! I think we better say it all together one more time... [all together]

STINKY: Oh, I'm so glad that God doesn't change -- that means we can trust Him! You know what, I think I better keep my promise. Here you go Mr Austin -- the lollies!

LEADER: Oh thank you Stinky!

STINKY: I better go now. Thank you for teaching me about God! Bye bye little monkeys!
