[ Introduction: leader picks child to knock on bin, everyone calls 'come out Stinky!', Stinky comes out singing his intro tune ]

STINKY: Hello little monkeys!

LEADER: Hello Stinky!

STINKY: Hello Mr Nathan! Oh, I'm so glad to see you, I've got lots of Bible questions for you. How did God keep his promises to Abraham? How can a lamb cure sin? Why did Jesus have to die? What will happen at the very end?

LEADER: Wow, wow, slow down Stinky -- I can't keep up with you!

STINKY: Oh, sorry. You know, sometimes the Bible feels a bit like a fuzzy picture. It has lots of good bits in it, but I just don't know how to understand all of it.

LEADER: I see...

STINKY: Oh! That reminds me of a special book I've been trying to understand. Can you help me please?

LEADER: Sure.

STINKY: Well, see this book? [gives to Nathan] It's got lots of pictures. But they look fuzzy. They don't look right. I can't understand what it's really about.

LEADER: Ah, Stinky, this is a 3D book. You need 3D glasses to see the pictures clearly.

STINKY: Glasses! Oh yeah, the book came with some glasses. Here they are...

LEADER: OK Stinky, I'll put them on you... [Help put on with rubber band, then hold book up to Stinky]. OK, have a look now...

STINKY: Aargh! That picture looks real! And clear! The animals are coming out of the page! I see it, I see it! It's Kung Fu Panda!

LEADER: That's right! The glasses are a bit like a key to seeing the pictures clearly. Now Stinky, about all those questions you had...

STINKY: Yes! You've told me before that we can know God by reading the Bible. But how can we understand all the stories in the Bible?

LEADER: Well, the Bible is not just a bunch of many different stories. It's the same story, told in many different ways.

STINKY: Oh! If it's really one story... then maybe I can understand all of it. What's the one story?!

LEADER: Well, the Bible is God's story of how He saves us. He made us and we disobeyed Him and went away from Him. The Bible is the story of how He brings us back to Him.

STINKY: That sounds good. But how can I see this one story in all the little stories?

LEADER: Ah! If the one story is about saving us, then whenever you read the Bible you have to look for the Saviour. Kids, can you tell Stinky who the Saviour is in God's story? [Get response]

STINKY: Jesus!

LEADER: Yes! Jesus is the Saviour. Jesus helps us understand the whole Bible. We get hints about him all over the Bible. You know, Jesus himself taught this to his disciples. After he died, two of his friends were sad and confused -- they didn't know how to understand what had happened. This is what Jesus did:

[ Slide (verse): Jesus explained to them what was said about himself in all the Scriptures. He began with Moses and all the Prophets. Lk 24:27 ]

LEADER: See? Jesus started at the very start of the Bible and went through it, explaining how it was all about him.

STINKY: Whoa! It must have been good for them to understand the whole Bible!

LEADER: Yes, this is what they said afterwards:

[ Slide (verse): "He opened the Scriptures to us. Weren't our hearts burning inside us during that time?" Lk 24:32 ]

LEADER: Jesus opened up the Bible to them, so they could understand all of it. He made it clear!

STINKY: A bit like my glasses and my 3D book!

LEADER: Yes! When we know Jesus, we can see God's big story of salvation. Let's see our Bible Bite:

STINKY: Oh, thank you Mr Nathan. I better go now. Bye bye little monkeys!
