[Intro: knock on bin, call 'come out Stinky!'\ Stinky comes out wearing a soccer shirt.]
STINKY: Hello little monkeys!
LEADER: Hello Stinky!
STINKY: Hello Mr Tim!
LEADER: Hey, I like your shirt. Did you play soccer today?
STINKY: Yes! I'm in a new team. It didn't go very well.
LEADER: Oh, why not?
STINKY: My team mates said I was being silly!
LEADER: Oh, I wonder why. How long have you played for this team with the yellow shirt?
STINKY: Oh, I'm not playing for this team anymore.
LEADER: [Confused] Oh. So... you wore the shirt of your old team?
STINKY: Yeah. My new team has a green shirt. I've got it here, look. [Gets it and gives to leader]
LEADER: Shouldn't you wear the new shirt, for the new team?
STINKY: But I like the old shirt!
LEADER: It doesn't work that way.
STINKY: Ah, it doesn't matter!
LEADER: It does matter Stinky. What you're doing is silly. That's what your new team was trying to tell you..
STINKY: Oh...
LEADER: You're in a new team, so you need to think in a new way. You can't stay the same.
STINKY: Really? OK, what should I do?
LEADER: You need to put off the old shirt, and put on the new shirt.
STINKY: Oh, I get it now. Can you help me please?
LEADER: Sure! First we need to put off the old shirt... [Helps]
STINKY: And what now?
LEADER: Now we put on the new shirt. [Helps]
STINKY: Thank you! That feels right instead of silly. Hey Mr Tim, I have a question...
LEADER: What is it?
STINKY: When we trust in Jesus, can we stay the same?
LEADER: Great question Stinky! What do you think kids? [Get responses] Well, let's see what God says about this, in the Bible:
[ Slide (verse): You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; ^ ^and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-23 ]
LEADER: See Stinky? God wants us to put off our old self.
STINKY: Eh? How does that work?
LEADER: It's like we are born again, and you are a new you -- a new 'self'. Kids, God wants you to put off the old you, to think in a new way, and put on the new you.
STINKY: Oh... What does the new you look like?
LEADER: Like Jesus! We tell the truth. We control our anger. We are honest at work and school. We speak helpfully. We don't grieve the Holy Spirit. We are kind and compassionate to each other.
STINKY: Wow, that's a lot of change!
LEADER: Yes! Let's see our Bible Bite:
[ Slide: Bible Bite: Put off the old you and put on the new you, who is like Jesus. ]
LEADER: OK Stinky, your turn now.
STINKY: Eh.... Put the old shirt on the new shelf.
LEADER: Oh, Stinky! Kids, we better help him.
[ Repeat ]
STINKY: Oh, thank you! I better go now. Bye bye little monkeys!
