[ Introduction: leader picks child to knock on bin, everyone calls 'come out Stinky!', Stinky comes out singing his intro tune ]

Stinky: Hello everybody!

Leader: Hello Stinky. Wow, you look really cool with those sunnies!

Stinky: (Looking in wrong direction) \ Thank you!

Leader: Hmm, Stinky, I'm over here.

Stinky: (Looks up) \ Oh ... What are you doing up there?

Leader: Stinky, can you see through those sunnies?

Stinky: (Again looking in wrong direction) \ Oh yes, yes.

Leader: Hmm, I don't think you're telling the truth - you're just pretending. Those sunnies are too dark.

Stinky: (Upset) \ Oh, you're right.

Leader: Here, let me help you ... (takes sunnies off)

Stinky: Oh, there you are! I'm just trying to look cool!

Leader: Why are you trying to look cool?

Stinky: Well, tonight my puppet friends and I are going on a night treasure hunt.

Leader: A treasure hunt in the dark?

Stinky: Yeah. It's the yellow puppets versus the green puppets. And I've been picked as the leader of the yellow team.

Leader: That's great!

Stinky: But I want to be a cool leader!

Leader: Well, you're not a good leader if you can't see where you're going ... Others will follow you blindly, and they'll get hurt!

Stinky: I guess so ...

Leader: Kids, can you think of something better for Stinky?

[ Gather responses ]

Leader: A torch! Stinky, I have one that I can lend you. Look! (turn it on, point arond)

Stinky: Wow, that's so bright!

Leader: Yes, this will help you find the treasure.

Stinky: Oh ... Wait - Miss Pat, I have a question!

Leader: Yes?

Stinky: Do we need a torch to find God?

Leader: Oh, that reminds me of the passage we're reading at church. Let me read it ...

[ SLIDE: Jesus spoke to the people again. He said, “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in darkness. They will have that light. They will have life.” - John 8:12 ]

Leader: Jesus says he is the light of the world!

Stinky: Light of the world? Wow, he must have a big torch!

Leader: It's not like that. You see, we all walk away from God and try to be the boss. We pretend that we can see. But we're like blind people stumbling around in the dark.

Stinky: Oh, that's no good!

Leader: It's awful. But God sent Jesus to rescue us from that life. Jesus helps us see in a bigger and deeper and fuller way - he shows us the way to God, his Father.

Stinky: Oh, like a leader in a treasure hunt?!

Leader: Yes! When we follow Jesus, we find God and have life with Him. That's the biggest treasure of all!

Stinky: OK what's our Bible Bite then?

Slide: Bible Bite: Let's follow Jesus, the light of the world, so we can know God the Father.

Leader: Stinky, can you say that?

Stinky: Eh ... Let's wear a head torch, so we can find my sunnies in the dark.

Leader: OK kids, let's help Stinky and say it together. "Let's follow Jesus, the light of the world, so we can know God the Father."

Stinky: Thank you miss Pat. Now I've got your torch I can lead my team on the treasure hunt.

Leader: Oh, let me put the headtorch on you ... (put on)

Stinky: Thank you! OK, I better go now ... Bye!
