[ Introduction: leader picks child to knock on bin, everyone calls 'come out Stinky!', Stinky comes out singing his intro tune ]
Stinky: Hello everybody!
Leader: Hello Sinky. I want to teach you a new word today.
Stinky: Oh, OK.
Leader: 'Glorify'
Stinky: (Shocked)\ Oh, Ms Pat! That's not nice!
Leader: What?
Stinky: Why you tell me to go and cry?
Leader: No, no, 'glorify'.
Stinky: Oh... That's much nicer!
Leader: Good.
Stinky: I love grissle pie!
Leader: Grissle pie? Isn't grissle the tough chewy bits in meat?
Stinky: Yes! You want the recipe?
Leader: Eh, no thanks.
Stinky: It's from my Aunty Smelly. She's the best pie cook ever! She makes all the popular ones: banana skin pie, hairy mold pie, and my favourite ... grissle pie!
Leader: Hmm ...
Stinky: And she's very kind! She loves making pies for everyone, and shares the recipe. I want you to meet her some day! Then we can eat pies all day long!
Leader: She sounds great, but you still didn't hear the word right. Kids, can you say the word?
Kids: 'Glorify'
Stinky: Oh... 'Glorify'! OK, got it now ... What is 'glorify'?
Leader: You know, you were 'glorifying' your Aunty Smelly just then!
Stinky: Really??
Leader: Yep. 'Glorify' is a word we use wih God especially. It means to know God's wonderful goodness, to enjoy His goodness, and to tell others so they can know and enjoy God too.
Stinky: Oh, so with my Aunty Smelly, I know how kind she is, I enjoy her wonderful pies, and I was telling you about her.
Leader: Yes!
Stinky: OK but what is glory?
Leader: It's the word we use for God's shiny, wonderful goodness.
Stinky: OK but why do you want to teach me this word?
Leader: Because God really cares about glory. Understanding this word helps us know him deeply.
Stinky: Does the Bible talk about glory is it just a fancy word you made up?
Leader: The grown ups are reading John chapter 17. Jesus knows he will die on the cross in a few hours, finishing the mission that God had sent him on. He's praying to God, his Father in heaven. What do you think Jesus asks for at such a special time?
Stinky: Was it a pie?
Leader: No, he asked God his Father to glorify him, just as Jesus had glorified God. Let's read how Jesus prayed.
[SLIDE - Bible passage: “Father, the time has come. Bring glory to your Son. Then your Son will bring glory to you".]
Leader: See, Jesus wanted glory. He wanted to glorify his Father in heaven. He wanted to return to his Father in glory. And he wants his followers to be with him and share the joy of His glory too.
Stinky: How did Jesus glorify God?
Leader: He completed the mission God had sent him on. Jesus showed what God was like - how kind, strong, and wise God is. And now he's about to die on the cross in our place, which shows how loving and just God is.
Stinky: So how did God glorify Jesus?
Leader: God raised Jesus from death, and gave him authority over all people, so he can give eternal life.
Stinky: That's a lot of glorifying going around! Do we get to do some glorifying too?
Leader: That's the amazing thing! We have no glory of our own. But Jesus has shared the glory God gave Him with us. Jesus wants us to be with him and enjoy this glory forever. That's eternal life!
Stinky: Wow! Do we get to glorify Jesus now?
Leader: Yes! We glorify him by knowing him, enjoying his goodness, and praising him to others.
Stinky: Oh, that way they can enjoy God's glory and have eternal life!
Leader: You've got it!
Stinky: Wow, these are big thoughts for my little head! I think I'm ready for our Bible Bite Ms Pat.
Leader: Great, here it is ...
[SLIDE - Bible Bite: Glorifying God means to know, enjoy, and praise His goodness.]
Leader: Stinky, can you say that?
Stinky: Err ... "Stinky glorified his Aunty, so we can eat grissle pie forever."
Leader: Hmm. Kids, let's say it together and help Stinky.
All: Glorifying God means to know, enjoy, and praise His goodness.
Stinky: Thank you Ms Pat. OK, I better go now... Bye!
[ Instruction: Stinky goes down singing his song, leader closes lid, bin wheeled out ]
