[ Introduction: leader picks child to knock on bin, everyone calls 'come out Stinky!', Stinky comes out singing his intro tune ]

STINKY: Hello little monkeys!

LEADER: Hello Stinky!

STINKY: Oh Mr Joe, I'm so excited! I've got some great news!

LEADER: What is it?

STINKY: Well, my uncle has given me a wonderful gift. It's a TV!

LEADER: Wow, that's very kind!

STINKY: Yes, he's a very kind uncle! He promised me that we would use that TV to watch the big match on Saturday. I told all my puppet friends, I invited lots of them so I can show off my brand new TV! They'll think I'm the best!

LEADER: I see...

STINKY: Yes, I'm so glad I've been really nice to my uncle. I think that's why he's giving me the new TV.

LEADER: Oh...

[ Phone rings ]

STINKY: Oh, the phone, excuse me. [while down] Hello uncle! Yes, I've been telling everyone about it, I love it... You whaaaat?! Give it back? Really? But, but... Oh, OK, bye. [returns up]

LEADER: What happened Stinky?

STINKY: He asked me to give back the TV! But he promised me we'd have a big party and watch the big match on Saturday. It doesn't make sense.

LEADER: Hmm, it does sound a bit strange. Did he say why?

STINKY: No, he was in a rush. Sounds like my uncle has changed his mind! Sounds like he's not so kind after all. Actually, it sounds like he doesn't love me as much as I thought...

LEADER: Oh Stinky...

STINKY: Should I give back the TV Mr Joe?

LEADER: Well, has your uncle kept his promises before?

STINKY: Eh... yes...

LEADER: Has he always been kind to you?

STINKY: Eh... yes...

LEADER: Well, he sounds like a good uncle. Maybe you should trust his promise, and do what he asked you to. He must have a way out of this puzzle.

STINKY: Oh Mr Joe, I don't know what to do. Oh... I have a question. How would God want me to get out of this puzzle?

LEADER: Ah, good question Stinky! You know, this reminds me of Abraham and Isaac.

STINKY: Abraham and Isaac?

LEADER: Yes God promised Abraham many blessings: a special land of his own, many people in his family, and great blessing. And God promised that all this would come through his son Isaac.

STINKY: That's very kind of God!

LEADER: Yes, but then God asked Abraham to do something very strange. He asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his one and only son!

STINKY: Really?! But if Isaac died, how would God keep his promise to bless Abraham?

LEADER: Good question!

STINKY: And Abraham would look really silly to his people. Who wants to follow an old man without children?

LEADER: Good question!

STINKY: It's a puzzle! It sounds like God is going against his promise. Is God really kind? Will God really keep his promise? What did Abraham do?

LEADER: Ah, it's amazing Stinky. Abraham trusted God's word. He trusted that God would bless him through Isaac, and he trusted God about sacrificing Isaac.

STINKY: But how can God keep his promise if Isaac is sacrificed?! This puzzle doesn't make sense to my little puppet head! How could he lose his only son?

LEADER: Well, Abraham trusted that God was good and strong. He knew that God would find a way. Let's look at the Bible:

[ Slide (verse): Abraham had faith. So he offered Isaac as a sacrifice... Abraham believed that God could raise the dead. In a way, he did receive Isaac back from death. (Hebrews 11:17a, 19) ]

LEADER: You see Stinky, Abraham trusted God. And God kept His word. Isaac did not die, because God provided a lamb to be sacrificed instead of Isaac.

STINKY: God solved the puzzle! Oh, I'm glad Abraham trusted God. [more]

LEADER: So Stinky, what are you going to do with the TV from your uncle?

STINKY: Well, I don't know how my uncle will keep his promise if I give back the TV. But I do know he's kind. And I do know he keeps his promises. So... I will trust him. I will give it back.

[ Phone rings again ]

STINKY: Oh, the phone... [goes down] Oh, hello uncle! Yes, I've decided to... [sad, disappointed] give you back the TV, like you asked me. Don't worry about the party you promised, I guess we can't... [pause, as if interrupted] - what? WHAAAT? Really? Oh, thank you uncle! Thank you! OK, I'll see you soon, bye!

LEADER: Stinky! What's happened this time?

STINKY: My uncle solved the puzzle!

LEADER: What do you mean?

STINKY: Well, he wanted the TV back... because he's giving me a bigger and better one!

LEADER: Really?!

STINKY: Yes! You know the party he promised me? Well, he thought it'd be better to have a really big TV so we can have a really big party and invite lots more people. And, he's coming too!

LEADER: That's wonderful Stinky! I'm glad you trusted him.

STINKY: Me too! He didn't just keep his promise. He super-kept it! I can't wait to see my uncle at the party.

LEADER: That's great Stinky. So let's see what we've learnt from the Bible today.

[ Slide: Bible Bite: We can trust God, because He always keeps all his promises ]

LEADER: Stinky, do you think you can say our Bible Bite?

STINKY: Oh, I'll try, but I might need some help... We can watch TV, because Abraham is always on the show. [improve?]

LEADER: Oh, Stinky! Let's say it together to help Stinky.

[ Say it all together ]

STINKY: Thank you! Hey Mr Joe... Would you like to come to my party?

LEADER: Well, yes, it sounds like fun!

STINKY: That's great! Oh, I better go now and get things ready for my uncle. Thank you for teaching me about trusting God. Bye bye little monkeys!

LEADER: Bye Stinky.
